BBB Info: Shopping in Bangkok

The beauties and the rich used to travel to Hong Kong to live out their shopping desires in 120 shopping centres. Singapore has even 152 malls.

Nowadays, Bangkok has overtaken them all. 165 shopping centres are open in Bangkok and a few more are added every year. There are malls for every purse and taste.

If you get bored of you old Porsche or Lamborghini, you can get a new one at Siam Paragon. Dress up with tie by Gianni Versace or get your new outfit from Massimo Dutti, Jaspal, Paul Smith or Ralph Lauren.

A trip to Rome, Paris or Tokyo you can have by visiting Terminal 21 shopping mall on Sukhumvit Road. Each floor celebrates a different city from around the world. Find yourself wandering around a bazaar in Istanbul and then sauntering down London's Carnaby Street.

If you are on a small budged for new shirts, Platinum Fashion Mall is the choice for you. 60,000 square meter full of clothes. The nearby Pantip Plaza sells everything for the computer freak and gadget addict. On six floors you find any kind of consumer electronics.

To repair or change your mobile phone you head for MBK. It is like an indoor market with some 2,000 shops. You can even negotiate the prices there.

My favourite shopping mall for food is certainly Central Embassy with the amazing EatThai in the basement. Even though it is quite expensive, you get any Thai street food at its best. You also find all kinds of candies, cookies, cakes and other Thai sweets from all over the country.

The biggest shopping mall in Bangkok is Central World, offering all kind of goods on a total space of 550,000 square meters.

If you hate the hustle and bustle on airport duty free shopping, King Power shopping centre is your choice. Buy and pay your stuff there and pick it up tax free at the Airport when you leave.

The "Mother of All Malls" will soon be the Icon Siam Shopping Mall. It is set to open at the end of 2017. I will certainly keep you informed when it comes to life.

Ask how to get there at the reception of BBB Inn. And if you need help with your shopping, just ask some boys out: https://bbb.thaiboy.net
